We visited our friends Barry and Linda and got the full tour of Vero Beach... They have a love and a great sense of pride in what their home and city provide for them. Here pictured is the Driftwood Inn.
Just got this photo in an email and I see the grandkids are making great use of our tree
Its hard to post to the blog with the connection we have, so will try later

Campground clue
This stone was used to build the Castillo de San Marcos and was quarried from the Campground where we are volunteering...
Here we see the stone in use....the workmanship has lasted hundreds of years.
We also "volunteered" to stay at our campsite which is only a 1/4 mile from the beach!
Our site is down this road...Can you guess the campground yet?
Here is Nellies lion.....:>)

KOA life
Our manager is very experienced and well suited to get the job done...I was very impressed with his way of getting the young summer help to work and take pride in their efforts. Look Mo up if you travel to the Myrtle Beach KOA

We Are Here....

Sure looks like it though. We are working here at the Myrtle Beach KOA in South Carolina and having a blast.
The managers are a husband and wife team with the wife using a experienced landscaping eye to maintain the grounds as the husband works daily to improve his vision of the ultimate KOA... giving this park its old southern charm right in the middle of a premier beach destination. Did I say we like it here?

Finishing Touches
Here we see the typical encounter of the stallions during the mating season. I of course never had a camera ready when these horses danced, but a visit to Assateague during April-June will give you a first row seat. I just got the Verizon Broadband and a netbook for Maureen so we will no longer rely on local WiFi. I will get back to visiting my Blog friends real soon!

On the Road again!!
We are in North Carolina headed towards Myrtle Beach, SC. I have so much to report about our stay at Assategue so I will get at it as soon as we arrive. To the right is a picture of the lawn maintenance crew!
This is Sham, King of the Assateague ponies. He is 21 years old and has never lost his herd of mares. In May, these horses are forever trying to get a herd of their own. I saw some magnificent encounters.
I will get up to date and start to post regularly again...I am using the park WiFi in N.C. and will have access at the KOA in MB.

Mr. Camp Host!
May 1st, I will begin my volunteer duties as Camp Host at Assateague National Seashore Park near Ocean City, Md. More info on this natural treasure can be found HERE
Maureen will continue her work in Ocean City as I give my time for a great cause. Please visit the park and stop by the Camp Host site on the Ocean Side loops...love to meet you!
Assateague is a barrier island
On the bayside of Assateague, you can walk the marsh and discover the large variety of shellfish and birds that call this reserve their home. As my adventure unfolds, I will keep posting the events as they happen. We will be here until July 1st.

Love the hat...
We seldom post pictures of our grandchildren but in this case, our youngest grandson is properly disguised and loving the camera! With 10 grandchildren we feel so blessed that we can love such adorable spirits...
When we begin our travels, ample time will be given to staying within driving distance of our grandkids. I hope he is not going to the racetrack!!

Maureen says that in a hostage situation, I would be released first.
I think that she could be right! This week will be Humor week so until the full time life gets rolling, I am going to make Maureen laugh.

Leaving Home - Flying Away...again
All this preparation for the full time lifestyle brings you to the realization that you have to leave home... again. No make believe...everything real. Those days when living was an adventure and each day filled with possibilities of success and misfortune will soon be upon us....again. On reflection, life has lost some of its mystery, but our childlike curiosity has returned and we are excited about the quest...Its our story and it begins...again
