Maureen says that in a hostage situation, I would be released first.
I think that she could be right! This week will be Humor week so until the full time life gets rolling, I am going to make Maureen laugh.
Add your funnies to the comments if you like.

Leaving Home - Flying Away...again
All this preparation for the full time lifestyle brings you to the realization that you have to leave home... again. No make believe...everything real. Those days when living was an adventure and each day filled with possibilities of success and misfortune will soon be upon us....again. On reflection, life has lost some of its mystery, but our childlike curiosity has returned and we are excited about the quest...Its our story and it begins...again

Old time fun
Since we have yet to leave on our RV adventure, material to fill a Travel Blog is sorely lacking...but I can have some fun with pictures. To the right is your usual portrayal of the golden years done with whimsical flair and loving detail. A caption befitting this photo could be
"Forty years and the face hair still tickles!
This photo grabbed my attention and the meaning could be quite profound....My grandmother was born in 1896 and was one of 11 children....these hands may represent experience and hope all in one moment. what do they mean to you?

...Lets get it started!
This is a Dieffenbachia plant and is Maureen's favorite. She has cuttings from the original plant her Mom had in the 60's and has spread the genes all along the east coast and Florida.
There will be little room for her present plant in the RV, but she has this idea that as we travel the country, she will give away a cutting to those who want a replica of her special plant. I think she wants to plant one at the Grand Floridian at Walt Disney World... I think she will!

Patriotic Reminders
Art Donovan and some Marines reciting the Declaration of Independence Super Bowl Sunday and other events that day that seemed to remind us that we are all in this together...Donovan is a Marine also and is quite the character when on stage. Reminds me of watching him and the old Baltimore Colts at a very young age.
Then comes this post by Judy of Travels with Emma fame and she describes her visit to a Vietnam Memorial .....quite the tribute and well written......then I reflect on my time over there and I am reminded of this song:
16 years old when I went to war,
To fight for a land fit for heroes,
God on my side, and a gun in my hand,
Chasing my days down to zero,
And I marched and I fought and I bled and I died,
And I never did get any older,
But I knew at the time that a year in the line,
Is a long enough life for a soldier,
And we brawled and we fought and we fought 'til we stood,
Ten thousand shoulder to shoulder,
A thirst for the Hun, we were food for the gun,
And that's what you are when you're soldiers,
I heard my friend cry, and he sank to his knees,
Coughing blood as he screamed for his mother,
And I fell by his side, and that's how we died,
Clinging like kids to each other
Its about WWI and trench warfare... but far more about the experiences of war.
I will be more fun the next post so lets help out where we can and God Bless the USA!!

The Year of Ones
Super Bowl coming up and the Packers and Steelers will determine whose is the number one team in the NFL...this is the year of ones if you look at dates:
1/1/11 and 1/11/11 and another one 11/11/11 and 11/1/11....you get the point!
But here is a strange fact that really adds up to many number ones for all of us....do this:
Add the last 2 digits of the year you were born (ex. 1949=49) to the age you will be this year (62) and what do you get?
"One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
Two can be as bad as one
It's the loneliest number since the number one"
Three Dog Night was WRONG!!!

Can you do nothing?
So, is it hard to find time for the little things?
Do you take time to fret over not having enough time?
Still juggling duties and responsibility?
Take this test:

It sure is a slow day
