We Are Here....

No....we are not at Fort Wilderness Disney World yet!!
Sure looks like it though.  We are working here at the Myrtle Beach KOA in South Carolina and having a blast.
The managers are a husband and wife team with the wife using a experienced landscaping eye to maintain the grounds as the husband works daily to improve his vision of the ultimate KOA... giving this park its old southern charm right in the middle of a premier beach destination. Did I say we like it here?

Here are some cabins that sit back into shade created by tall white oaks and pine trees. These trees produce oxygen and a gentle breeze that cools the campground so much better than the RV "parking lots" at other campgrounds

This is the back of the campstore early am before the guests start to move around...you can see the pool area and the forest of trees where the RV sites and cabins are well placed...our workcamping adventure starts here each morning.  We will be here until September 15th so drop by if you are in the area!

Finishing Touches

Here we see the typical encounter of the stallions during the mating season.  I of course never had a camera ready when these horses danced, but a visit to Assateague during April-June will give you a first row seat.  I just got the Verizon Broadband and a netbook for Maureen so we will no longer rely on local WiFi.  I will get back to visiting my Blog friends real soon!

On the Road again!!

We are in North Carolina headed towards Myrtle Beach, SC.  I have so much to report about our stay at Assategue so I will get at it as soon as we arrive.  To the right is a picture of the lawn maintenance crew!

This is Sham, King of the Assateague ponies.  He is 21 years old and has never lost his herd of mares.  In May, these horses are forever trying to get a herd of their own.  I saw some magnificent encounters.

Waiting for an opportunity

Birth Control didn't work this time!

I will get up to date and start to post regularly again...I am using the park WiFi in N.C. and will have access at the KOA in MB.

Assateague is a barrier island

On the bayside of Assateague, you can walk the marsh and discover the large variety of shellfish and birds that call this reserve their home.  As my adventure unfolds, I will keep posting the events as they happen.  We will be here until July 1st.

Great Adventures

We spent some time with two great young people last night and they really have it together. Kirsten's boyfriend Dane is planning a Grand Canyon hike soon and the pic to the right may be one of the trails he follows.  You can find more info on hiking the Canyon by going to this:  FAQ Page

This waterfall at the bottom of the Canyon will be a welcome respite from the heat that Dane and his friends will encounter, among other things....!
This experience will not change his life, but he will have a greater regard for it...:>)
